History of ICCG
The Irish Chinese Contact Group (ICCG) was formed in July 2000, initially as the Cork Chinese Contact Group, with only 3 families involved. This group has grown rapidly in size since with almost 400 members families by Oct. 2006, and aims at providing support to couples and single people who have or are considering adopting a child from China.
By meeting regularly, members are kept informed of changes in the process while also providing an invaluable social network for both the parents and the children.
Over the last 10 years the group membership has expanded to cover the whole country with almost 250 families registered as members. As the group expanded beyond Cork it was felt necessary to appoint regional representatives in each HSE area to
help adopters and to organise events. We now have over 20 Regional Reps. Details in our Committee section.
Talks and social events now happen around the country in one of many locations with major events like our Chinese New Celebration moving to other counties, 2004 Kilkenny, 2005 Cork, 2006 Dublin, returning to Cork 2007 Limerick for 2008, back to Cork
